Educare College is ever ready to assist you in gaining the skills and knowledge required in caring for the elderly within the community setting and/or residential setting.

The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support course provides students the skills and knowledge required in the community services industry to complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services where they take responsibility for their individual outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. This course contains 18 units (15 core and 3 electives) and covers the following themes;

  • Support Independence and Wellbeing
  • First Aid
  • Manage Aged Care Compliance
  • Work in Health and Community Sector
  • Support and Empowerment of Older People
  • Deliver Care Services Using a Palliative Approach
  • Facilitate the Empowerment with people with Disability
  • Support Relationships with Carers and Families
  • Plan and Deliver Service to Clients
  • Develop and Maintain Networks and Collaborative Partnerships

Duration

The course duration typically takes 12 months (depending on the student’s previous learning, experience, and employment status) with a total of 1228 nominal hours** (inclusive of 120 work placement hours).

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you should have;

  • Completed at least Year 12 from an Australian secondary school or overseas equivalent

OR

Proof of equivalent competency in core skills to a level appropriate for the course being applied for

  • CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (recommended but not compulsory)
  • Successful completion of a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment
  • Working with Children Check and Police Clearance (Blue Card)
  • A good level of physical fitness

Delivery Method

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support course is delivered through online study. We understand that students have commitments and responsibilities to attend to, however, we require students to submit a minimum of one assessment per month in order to complete the course without delay.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Credit Transfer (CT)

Have a lifetime of experience but no formal qualification? Concerned about spending valuable time on a course to gain skills and knowledge you already possess?

Our friendly staff will guide you through the RPL/CT process and collect the evidence needed to support your application. We issue applicants RPL/CT documentation requesting specific information relating to acquired skills and knowledge achieved within the past five years, either through Educare College or another training organisation. An interview process and practical skills assessment will then be conducted if required.
